No. The PVM-1021 Pro is rated for systems up to 1000 V DC, which covers the majority of residential and commercial rooftop installations. For 1500 V DC systems — typical of modern utility-scale and large commercial arrays — we recommend the HT Instruments PV-ISOTEST or the Sonel MPI-540-PV.

Yes. The PVM-1021 Pro performs all category 1 measurements required by EN 62446-1 — the European standard for PV system commissioning, referenced as DIN VDE 0126-23 in Germany. This includes open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current, insulation resistance on both DC and AC sides, protective earth continuity, and AC/DC power.

The included IRM-1 measures live solar irradiance and panel temperature on site and transmits the values to the PVM-1021 over LoRa. The PVM-1021 then converts measured Voc, Isc, and power to Standard Test Conditions (1000 W/m², 25 °C panel temperature) per EN IEC 60891 — without any manual data entry. If the wireless link drops mid-measurement, the reSYNC function backfills the environmental data automatically once the connection is restored.

The kit includes Sonel Reader at no extra cost — sufficient for transferring measurement data from the PVM-1021 to your computer via Bluetooth. For full EN 62446-1-compliant commissioning protocols ready to hand to your client, Sonel Reports PLUS is recommended. It is available as an optional licence — contact us for current pricing.

Sonel recommends a 12-month calibration interval for the PVM-1021 and IRM-1. AmpX can arrange factory recalibration through Sonel. Calibration is independent of the warranty — a calibrated instrument may still need recalibration before the warranty period ends, and vice versa.
